Markets in Financial Instruments Directive
The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (“MiFID II”), adopted in 2014 and effective as of 3 January 2018, revises and enhances The Markets in Financial Instruments Directive, adopted in 2004 (“MiFID I”) and applies to the conduct of regulated financial services in the European Economic Area (“EEA”). The implementing rules under MiFID II are intended to harmonise laws in the EEA as they pertain to financial service providers and to create an integrated financial market in which investors are effectively protected.
