U.S. Cash Trading
Overview
At Oppenheimer, we strive to provide our clients with consistency, anonymity, liquidity, minimal market
impact and expertise on every order through the following approaches:
- "High Touch" service-oriented approach. While our competitors may be moving toward "low
touch" models, we believe that each order requires more attention given today's volatile markets. We
firmly believe in the saying "work the order you have, not the order you are trying to get."
- Sectorized trading. We have 12 specialized sector traders closely aligned with our fundamental
research coverage expertise. Our position traders work very closely with both our research analysts and
Product Management Group in a concerted effort to generate alpha for our clients. Each trader is able to
provide trends and flows within their sectors and subsectors.
- Avenues of liquidity. We offer a full suite of algorithmic trading that includes access to ECNs, major
exchanges, crossing networks and all major dark pools. We also have a vast retail network of over
1,400 retail brokers and relationships with 15 broker-dealers, providing an additional view of the primary
sources of liquidity within the marketplace.
- Dialogue across asset class trading desks. Our equity desk works closely in conjunction with
Convertibles, Corporate Fixed Income, Institutional Options & ETFs and PT to provide an overall picture of
the market in any given single stock.
- Customer-friendly trading environment. We operate in a unique environment that is primarily
agency driven, but the ability to satisfy a customer's desire for greater liquidity is also available. We have
strong relationships within each region, asset class and scale of institution that allow us to fi nd the other
side of a trade in a professional manner.
- Team approach. Our sales approach is organized in teams at both the sales trading and the sales
level. We aim to provide broader and deeper coverage. First on the sales and sales trader level, we work
together to close the loop on research meetings from the portfolio manager to the trader level. Second,
we work as a team on the trading desk to provide seamless coverage so that no order ever falls through
the cracks.
