Oppenheimer's 8th Annual Consumer Growth Conference (incorporating a 1-day Gaming, Lodging & Leisure Conference) will be held July 8 - 10, 2008 at the Four Seasons Hotel Boston.
On July 8th & 9th, the conference will feature approximately 70 leading public companies from a variety of consumer sectors including specialty hardlines and softlines retail, restaurants, and consumer products and services.
The consumer sector continues to be a core focus for investors, despite the challenges the group has experienced thus far this year. 2008 is likely to be volatile given low visibility as to a housing market recovery, still high gas prices, and uncertainty as to when the consumer’s appetite for discretionary purchases will improve. Our mid-year conference is an opportunity to assess the state of the consumer and what the constantly changing economic dynamics will mean for consumer stocks in the second half of 2008 and beyond.
On July 10th, the conference will feature companies from the Gaming, Lodging & Leisure sectors. We believe the timing of the conference is opportune, given the increasing focus on companies’ capital structure, particularly among gaming and lodging companies. What’s more, growth beyond the U.S. has become critical, but is less certain and arguably more challenging to forecast than domestic market growth. In short, the recent past has brought important changes in how we evaluate gaming, lodging and leisure stocks, which should continue to impact the investment decision process.
