The Market Strategy Radar Screen


The latest chapter of the Greek debt/austerity debacle in Europe and the bear market in Chinese mainland equity benchmark exchanges were of little surprise to anyone. They were accidents waiting to happen, as the colloquialism states.

It would seem recognized from a country fiscal perspective that the Greek government “knows how to live but hasn’t wanted to pay for it.” From a market perspective, it seems apparent that given enough liquidity and encouragement to invest, Chinese private investors have a tendency to speculate and act as if trees can grow to the sky.

The devaluation of the Chinese yuan last week, however, was pretty much a surprise to everyone and perhaps even the Chinese leadership itself...
